Unlocking the Port
Business need: A large number of shipping containers en route by sea, from Bangladesh to France, were stuck in transit at the Colombo Port. Delays caused by the Covid Pandemic had ensured the client’s cargo missed its connecting ship to Europe. This was a major crisis for the client as the cargo was seasonal, and due in Europe by Christmas.
Solution: D P Logistics cleared the containers out of the port, and had them transported to the airport outside the city, and loaded onto cargo flights that would get the freight to France on schedule. D P Logistics processed all documentation, including customs approvals at the port, and provided a multimodal logistics solution by chartering the required aircraft. The entire operation was conducted at short notice and with exacting deadlines met, in spite of reduced customs personnel.
